WorldClock and WorldClock Lite each have a preferences screen that allows you to adjust various display options to suit your own needs. To select an option, click on the appropriate button, and then click the OK button.
ΓÇó Display Size - Small or Large
The small size displays 5 worldwide clocks below a map that measures 360 x 180 pixels. The large option (not available in WorldClock Lite) displays 7 worldwide clocks below a 600 x 300 map. If the large option is chosen while you are using a 640 x 400 display (some PowerBooks), the size is automatically adjusted to fit. Size changes take effect the next time you open WorldClock.
ΓÇó Latitude/Longitude Gridlines - Show or Hide
"Show" is the default setting. Latitude and longitude lines are shown every 15┬░.
ΓÇó Tropics, Circles, Equator - Show or Hide
"Show" is the default setting, displaying Arctic and Antarctic Circles, the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, and the Equator. Between the Arctic or Antarctic Circles and the poles, there are some days each year when the sun never sets or rises. The sun never moves North of the Tropic of Cancer, nor South of the Tropic of Capricorn. Between the Tropics, there is at least one day each year when the sun passes directly overhead.
ΓÇó Terminator Twilight Zones - Show or Hide
"Show" is the default setting. At any time, more than half of the Earth's surface is illuminated by sunlight. "Show" displays the bands of twilight that lie between the daylight area of the Earth, and the region where it is fully dark. For best effect, your monitor should be set to "Thousands of Colors" or "Millions of Colors", if your machine supports one of these settings. At 256 colors, or at grayscale settings, WorldClock displays only one twilight band. "Hide" turns the twilight effect off, and the entire dark half of the Earth is displayed with uniform dimming.
ΓÇó Show Distances In - Miles or Km
"Miles" is the default setting. Each of the analog clocks on the "Clocks" screen shows the distance from the "Home Location" to the location represented by that clock. Click "Km" to change the display to kilometers. "Miles" refer to statute miles of 5280 feet, not nautical miles.
ΓÇó Time Format - AM/PM or 24-Hour
"AM/PM" is the default setting. WorldClock as shipped assumes that you are a U.S. user, with the System Date and Time formats set the way they were when your system software was installed - to U.S. format, with 12-hour time. If these are the settings you are using (you can verify by using the Date and Time Control Panel), you can set WorldClock to display in 24-hour format by clicking the 24-Hour preference. If you have something other than U.S. and 12-hour format set with the Date and Time control panel, you are on your own, as this version of WorldClock relies on having standard U.S. System 7 time settings.
ΓÇó Background Processing - On or Off
"On" is the default setting, enabling WorldClock to keep displaying the correct time and world situation even when you are using a different program. Some users have reported that they like to keep WorldClock running on a second monitor, while they use other software on the main monitor. WorldClock updates itself once at the beginning of each minute, and you may notice a slight processing interruption in the program you are using while this occurs. If this is bothersome, and you want to leave WorldClock open, then you may wish to turn background processing off. With background processing off, WorldClock will not update itself while you are busy using other applications. It will snap to back to life, however, quickly updating itself, whenever you click on it or do something else to make it the active process.
ΓÇó Time Difference Relative To - Home or UT
"Home" is the default setting. Each of the analog clocks on the "Clocks" screen displays the number of hours it is ahead or behind your "Home" location. If you instead select "UT", each of the clocks will give the number of hours it is ahead or behind Universal Time (Greenwich Time).

Use the pop-up menu to select which screen you want to first appear each time you open WorldClock.
